Step 1 · The first evening
Measure your resume before touching it
Almost everyone edits their resume by instinct and then wonders why nothing changed. Do the opposite: get an objective read first. A free resume analysis gives you an ATS score, every red flag ranked by severity, and rewrite suggestions for the weakest bullets.

Step 2 · Week one
Fix the resume, bullet by bullet
Rewrite the flagged bullets so each one carries scale and outcome: what you did, how big it was, what changed because of it. "Responsible for managing a team" becomes "Led a team of 8 and cut project delays by 30%". Remove filler skills you cannot back up in an interview; a skill on your resume is a question you have invited.
Check the mechanics too: standard section headings, no tables or graphics that confuse ATS parsers, consistent dates, and one page for most profiles under ten years of experience.
Step 3 · Week two
Pick a target role and learn in order

Match before you apply, then tailor
For each job you find, score your resume against the posting with job matching before spending an application on it. Strong match: apply with a resume tailored to that posting, not your generic one. Weak match: skip it, or note the named gaps as learning targets.

Step 5 · Continuous
Build proof for the skills you claim
The difference between "knows Kafka" and "built a service that processes events through Kafka" decides interviews. Pick one project that produces evidence for your target role and finish it. Step 6 · Before every interview
Practice the questions your resume invites
